Board Certified Music Therapist

Your opportunity 

As a board-certified music therapist at Franciscan Life Process Center, you will use the synergies of music and therapy to empower clients to release their whole potential. Employing research-based methods, you’ll work with clients to address a wide variety of needs, from cognitive and behavioral to physical, social and emotional.

You’ll bring your strong interpersonal skill set to create an atmosphere of empathy, creativity and understanding as you offer music-based interventions to meet your clients’ unique needs. At either our beautiful rural campus in Lowell or bustling urban campus in Grand Rapids, you will use the power of music to positively impact the clients you serve.

You will uphold the values of the Franciscan Sisters while providing therapeutic sessions, valuing and promoting the dignity of life.

Who you’ll serve 

  • Adults with developmental disabilities
  • At-risk youth
  • Early intervention children with learning and speech delays
  • Elder care with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia
  • Hospice
  • Individuals with Autism
  • Individuals with multiple cognitive and physical impairments
  • Neurological rehabilitation and disorders

What you’ll do

  • Prepare for individual and group sessions with developed plans and materials
  • Provide individual and group music therapy when needed
  • Maintain and manage a flexible schedule
  • Keep timely and appropriate records
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Music Therapy

How you’ll be evaluated

  • Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Director of Music Therapy and Education within three months of employment and then annually, one week before the anniversary of hire each year

Your qualifications 

  • Completed four-year degree/ equivalency in music therapy and clinical internship training in an approved site1-3 years professional experience (preferred)
  • Board certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists
  • Collaborative skill set and ability to work with multiple team members
  • Demonstrated organizational, pedagogical and social skills to relate to clientele and families

Who you will report to 

  • Director of Music Therapy

Your work schedule 

  • Full-time, 35-40 hours/week Monday-Friday, choose your own hours
  • No weekends or on-call
  • 60% off-site contracted work
  • In-person, Grand Rapids or Lowell, Michigan

What you’ll be compensated 

  • Salary: $43,600 – $58,240
  • Benefits below
  • Entire compensation package valued at  $58,680 – $73,240
